Bareilly: The Department of Pharmacy at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, celebrated World Pharmacist Day 2026 on September 25 with enthusiastic participation from students, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Rai. This year’s theme, “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures,” highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists and their contribution to healthcare services.
The event, held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Kishore, Head of the Pharmacy Department, along with Dr. Amit Kumar Verma. Dr. Ravi Prakash, Scientist at the Agricultural Structure and Environmental Control Division, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, and Dr. Indrasen Chauhan, Senior Scientist at IVRI, Bareilly, attended as chief guests.
The program began with a formal welcome to the chief guests, professors, and faculty members. Yashraj Vashishtha and Anand Kumar Verma welcomed the dignitaries and teachers, followed by a Saraswati Vandana performed by first-year students Riya and Aanchal.
In his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Kishore described pharmacists as a vital part of the healthcare system and encouraged students to build professional knowledge, practical skills, ethical values, and a sense of responsibility.
Prof. (Dr.) Shobhna Singh noted that pharmacy was once mistakenly associated with agriculture in the past, but has since developed into a key healthcare field encompassing medicine, patient care, research, and public health.
Dr. Shiv Dev Singh spoke about pharmacists’ responsibilities in the safe and effective use of medicines, professional ethics, effective communication, and a patient-centered approach.
Students then collectively took the Pharmacist’s Oath. Speech, rangoli, and poster competitions were held for first- and second-year students, organized by third-year students.
Chief guest Dr. Indrasen Chauhan delivered a special lecture on “Personality Development” for first-year B.Pharm students, sharing insights on personal growth and qualities essential for professional life.
In a special session, chief guest Dr. Ravi Prakash spoke on managing the mind and stress through the Bhagavad Gita and spiritual wisdom, emphasizing mental balance, self-reflection, and a positive outlook.
Krishangi Kritika Bora also conducted a storytelling session. Results of the various competitions were announced, and winning students were awarded prizes and certificates.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the chief guests, professors, faculty, and students, followed by an awareness rally marking Pharmacist Day.
The celebration provided students with an opportunity for knowledge-building, professional development, personality growth, and social engagement, effectively conveying the message of “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.”
